An exhibition of precious textile creations on loan from the renowned Arnaldo Capria collection. Visitors will be able to admire a rich series of trimmings, collars, caps, mantillas, fans, parasols, bonnets and handkerchiefs produced between the 16th and 19th centuries, as well as pieces from the Napoleonic museum, including lace items that belonged to Eugenia, the wife of Emperor Napoleon III. This unique exhibition brings together these fine fabric gems that the great Bonaparte had rendered mandatory in court. Tue-sun h9-19. €5,50, reduced €4

The Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore are with no doubt among the best-known European classical music festivals, every year they offer to their audience performances by internationally famous artists.

In 20010 the Stresa Festival will inaugurate its 49th edition with the Spring Concerts, five open-air events entitled Flowery staves performed in the beautiful gardens of the lake.

An exceptional and exclusive event coming up in Rome is the first show dedicated to a quintessential figure in Roman history. Julius Caesar was the link between the republic and the empire, a charismatic man and an extraordinary leader. A series of valuable archaeological finds – sculptures, mosaics, frescoes, jewels, gems, coins – are on show, as are sculptures and paintings by major artists like Hayez, Tiepolo and Rubens that tell the story of Caesar’s life. Until 8 Mar: La Conquista della Modernità – Sèvres, 1920/2008 (The Conquest of Modernity – Sèvres 1920-2008)
Over 100 works show us the manufacturing art of Sèvres, porcelain pieces and drawings created with traditional techniques and processes but in a modern and streamlined design. Among the pieces on show – made by both established artists and emerging ones – particularly worth citing is “La Bocca” by Bertrand Lavier, “Odore di Femmina de Sèvres” by Johan Creten, “Dragon dans les nuages” by Clémence Van Lunen and the installation of 60 perfumed roses made in biscuit-fired porcelain created exclusively for the 250 years of existence of the firm.
